Podcast: The Clem Report

The Barstool Sports New York blogger joined me to talk about the Tom Coughlin era and the decision to hire Ben McAdoo.

Ben McAdoo

For the fourth straight season, the Giants aren’t in the playoffs. And for the first time in 12 seasons, the Giants have a new head coach. The Giants named Ben McAdoo as their successor to Tom Coughlin and Giants fans will have to get used to not seeing the familiar face that led the team on the sidelines since 2004.

The Clem Report of Barstool Sports New York joined me to talk about the end of the Tom Coughlin era, the second-half collapses over the last 12 years, the Super Bowl runs in 2007 and 2011, the decision to hire Ben McAdoo, what Giants fans should expect next season and which team to root for with the Giants not in the playoffs.

Mike Francesa’s producer joined me to talk about the Rangers, Giants and NFL playoffs

New York Rangers vs. Washington Capitals

The last time the Rangers won back-to-back games was the weekend before Thanksgiving. That was a long time ago. The Rangers have slumped through nearly two months of the season and the idea of them winning the Metro again is now a pipe dream. It seems like we’re finally headed for the Rangers-Islanders postseason series fans have dreamed about for the last two years.

WFAN Mike’s On: Francesa on the FAN producer Brian Monzo joined me to talk about the Rangers at the halfway point of the season, what to make of Chris Kreider’s career, the improvement of Dylan McIlrath, why Ben McAdoo should be the Giants’ next head coach, gambling on the NFL playoffs, the Mets’ offseason and rescheduling his kid’s Christening for FrancesaCon.

The Barstool Sports New York blogger joined me to talk about the Mets in the World Series.

New York Mets

The Mets are in the World Series. It’s more than surprising and depressing, but it’s happening and the only thing to do now is root for the Royals and hope the Mets don’t become champions.

The Clem Report of Barstool Sports New York joined me to talk about the Mets’ run to the World Series, what will happen to the New York baseball landscape if the Mets win, why he rooted for the Yankees in the 2009 World Series and how Mets fans have changed their tune when it comes to Daniel Murphy, Curtis Granderson and Terry Collins. We also talked some Giants football since it’s something we agree on.

The Barstool Sports Blackhawks blogger joined me to talk about Rangers-Blackhawks.

Hockey is back and the Rangers are back. After what felt like an incredibly short three-plus month offseason following the Rangers’ Game 7 loss in the Eastern Conference finals, the Rangers begin the 2015-16 season on Wednesday night in Chicago where the Blackhawks will raise their Stanley Cup banner.

Ryan Brandell of Barstool Sports Chicago (known as “Chief” on that site), joined me to talk about the Blackhawks winning the Cup for the third time in six years, how you get through the regular season when you’re used to winning in the postseason, the turnover of the Blackhawks’ roster, how the city will watch the banner raised along with the Cubs’ wild-card game and the current sports landscape in Chicago.

The Big Blue View blogger joined me to talk about how Tom Coughlin can keep his job.

New York Giants

Giants football is back. After a second-half collapse in 2012, an 0-6 start in 2013 and a seven-game losing streak in 2014, it’s been a while since anyone has been able to get excited about the New York Football Giants. In the last two seasons, the Giants-Cowboys game to save the Giants’ season in 2013 is the one game that felt like a playoff and the Giants lost that game in heartbreaking fashion. The last time the Giants played a postseason game was in Super Boxl XLVI and that has to change this season.

Ed Valentine of Big Blue View joined me to talk about the injuries to Victor Cruz and Jon Beason, Eli Manning’s contract extension, the absence of Jason Pierre-Paul, defensive players targeting Odell Beckham Jr., the only way Tom Coughlin can keep his job after this year and what this team’s record will be this season.
