Podcast: Kevin DeLury

Kevin DeLury of The New York Rangers Blog joins me to talk about whether the Rangers should sign or trade Ryan Callahan and why Glen Sather is deciding to draw the line for the first time with his team’s captain.

The clock is ticking on Ryan Callahan and the Rangers. With Wednesday’s 3 p.m. deadline quickly approaching, I realize that at any moment I can open Twitter and see that the Rangers have signed Callahan to a six-year deal or that they have traded him, which would send a confusing message to the rest of the Rangers and the fans of the team. But after what has now been a month of trade rumors surrounding Callahan, we will soon have a resolution.

Kevin DeLury of The New York Rangers Blog joined me to talk about whether the Rangers should sign or trade Ryan Callahan, why Glen Sather is deciding to draw the line for the first time with his team’s captain and how far the Rangers can go this season.

Podcast: Brian McGonagle

Brian McGonagle, who is also known as Rear Admiral, of Barstool Sports Boston joins me to talk about trading homegrown talent by revisiting the Joe Thornton trade and how the Bruins are now expected to win the Stanley Cup every year.

The Rangers almost gave away Thursday night’s game against the Blackhawks in the final seconds, but held on to grab a must-needed two points to begin the home stretch. Things don’t get any easier for the Rangers with back-to-back games this weekend, including the final regular-season game against the Bruins. And after last year’s playoff debacle against the Bruins, let’s hope it’s the last time these two teams meet for this entire season.

Brian McGonagle, who is also known as Rear Admiral, of Barstool Sports Boston joined me to talk about trading homegrown talent by revisiting the Joe Thornton trade, the way player safety and suspensions are handled by the NHL and how the Bruins are now expected to win the Stanley Cup every year.

Podcast: Danny Picard

Danny Picard of “I’m Just Sayin'” and WEEI joined me to talk about how Claude Julien turned around his career and reputation and why the Bruins are the best team in the Eastern Conference.

The Rangers started off the stretch run with a 2-1 win over the Blackhawks, but things don’t get any easier this weekend with a trip to Philadelphia on Saturday and then back home to host the Bruins on Sunday. Thanks to realignment and the scheduling geniuses at the NHL, Sunday’s game against the Bruins will be the third and final game between the two Original Six teams during the regular season.

Danny Picard, host of I’m Just Sayin‘ on Dig Radio Boston (which can also be found on iTunes) and host of The Danny Picard Show on WEEI on the weekends, joined me to talk about how Claude Julien has gone from almost getting to fired to one of the most respected coaches in the league, why the Bruins are the best team in the Eastern Conference and we even touch on some baseball with spring training in full swing.

Podcast: Ryan Brandell

Ryan Brandell of Barstool Sports Chicago joins me to talk about how winning has changed the perception of the Blackhawks in Chicago and why the Blackhawks can’t miss out on their current opportunity to create a Yankees-like dynasty.

The Rangers have 23 games in their season and there’s a good chance for most of those they won’t have Ryan Callahan or Dan Girardi. With the trade deadline looming, it looks like the Rangers are going to have to at least move their captain and on top of that, the team is fighting to stay in the playoff picture. The Rangers return from the break with three games in four days and the first game is against the Stanley Cup defending champion Blackhawks.

Ryan Brandell of Barstool Sports Chicago (known as “Chief” on that site), joined me to talk about Patrick Kane’s performance in the Olympics, how winning has changed the perception of the Blackhawks in Chicago and why the Blackhawks can’t miss out on their current opportunity to create a Yankees-like dynasty.

Podcast: Brian Monzo

Brian Monzo of WFAN joins me to talk about the Ryan Callahan trade rumors and why trading the captain would be the most significant move of Glen Sather’s tenure.

The Olympics are over and the NHL is back. The Rangers begin their post-break season on Thursday night against Chicago at Madison Square and will play in Philadelphia on Saturday and then host Boston on Sunday for a very tough three games in four days. And with 23 games left in the Rangers’ season and just eight days until the trade deadline, it’s looking more likely that these will be Ryan Callahan’s final days as a Ranger.

WFAN Mike’s On: Francesa on the FAN producer Brian Monzo joined me to talk about the use of NHL players in the Olympics after some recent devastating injuries, the growing Ryan Callahan trade rumors and why trading the captain would be the most significant move of Glen Sather’s tenure.
