Yankees Podcast: Missed Opportunities and Misplays (Scott Proctor)

The Yankees lost to the Orioles in extra innings, and former Yankee Scott Proctor joined me to talk about his baseball career.

The Yankees had 13 hits, two walks and got two free baserunners in extra innings and still only managed to score three runs in a 4-3 11-inning loss to the Orioles. The Yankees’ inability to drive runners in, produce productive outs and simply have good situational at-bats cost them a sweep and has now cost them two games this season: this game and Opening Day.

After the recap, former Yankees reliever Scott Proctor joined me to talk about his time with the Yankees, getting drafted by the Mets, becoming Joe Torre’s go-to guy, setting up for Mariano Rivera and being a part of some great Yankees teams that came up short in the postseason.

Yankees Podcast: There’s 17 Games Left Against Orioles (Shane Spencer)

The Yankees beat the Orioles, like they always do, and former Yankee Shane Spencer joined me to talk about his career.

The Yankees beat up on the Orioles for a second straight night, winning 7-2 to go above .500 for the first time in 2021. When things are going as badly as they were this past weekend against the Blue Jays, there’s nothing better than seeing the Orioles on the schedule.

After the recap, former Yankee and three-time World Series champion Shane Spencer joined me to talk about growing up a Padres fan, getting drafted by the Yankees, his magical September 1998, his approach at the plate, winning the World Series against his hometown Padres, the 2001 World Series, the breakdown of the Flip Play, his relationship with Paul O’Neill, coming up through the minors with the Core Four and how the team changed in 2002.

Yankees Podcast: I Love the Orioles

Monday was the best kind of Yankees win: no frustration or disappointment. A nice, easy win.

That’s more like it. The Yankees finally looked like the Yankees and beat up the Orioles (like they always do) in a 7-1 win. Aaron Judge hit a solo home run, Giancarlo Stanton hit a grand slam, Aaron Hicks got on base and Jordan Montgomery gave the bullpen a rest with six innings. It was the best kind of Yankees win: no frustration, no disappointment and no moments of high intensity. A nice, easy win.

After the recap, Eric Arditti of Barstool Sports joined me to talk about the state of the Orioles, when they will be good again, their last window from 2012-16, the departure of Gary Thorne from the broadcast booth and the careers of Nick Markakis and Matt Wieters.

Yankees Podcast: Gary Sanchez Gets No Help in Miserable Opening Day Loss

If you’re frustrated with what you watched in Thursday’s Opening Day loss, you’ll enjoy the recap.

No position player other than Gary Sanchez did anything to help the team win and the Yankees turned in a lackluster Opening Day performance, losing 3-2 in 10 innings. If you’re frustrated with what you watched on Thursday, you’ll enjoy the recap.

After the recap of the season-opening loss, Cam Lewis of Blue Jays Nation joined me to talk about the Blue Jays, their previous championship window of 2015-16, the quick rebuild, frustrations from fans over their payroll and expectations for them this season.
