Podcast: C.J. Nitkowski

C.J. Nitkowski

Spring training has started and the baseball season has officially begun. With pitchers and catchers reporting last week, the grind of spring training is a week in with six weeks to go. No one has complained about how long spring training is yet, but it’s coming soon enough.

Former Yankee and current FS1 analyst C.J. Nitkowski joined me to talk about his 10-year MLB career as a starter and reliever, working in the media, filling in for Suzyn Waldman and calling Yankees games with John Sterling, changing postgame media sessions, the schedule for pitchers at spring training, what a manager and pitching coach look for in a bullpen session, learning from John Smoltz and Mariano Rivera and how he made a spot for himself on the Yankees (the team he grew up rooting for).
