Podcast: Dan Overlock

“Two-a-Days” from The Dan Patrick Show joined me to talk about working for Dan Patrick, the behind-the-scenes stuff from the show, the incredible man cave and the best guests and interviews on the show.

I have always been a fan of Dan Patrick going back to his time with ESPN and then with his radio program The Dan Patrick Show. It’s a show that has a little bit of everything and always seems to have the biggest guests in the sports world and those guests tend to open up a little more on the show than on other shows and in other settings.

Dan Overlock, who is part of The Dan Patrick Show and who is known as “Two-a-Days” on the show, joined me to talk about working for Dan Patrick, the behind-the-scenes stuff from the show, the incredible man cave in Milford, Conn. and the best guests and interviews on the show.

After winning three straight series to finish the first half with a 6-3 record in the “Necessary Nine“, the Yankees picked up right where they left off to start the second half with another series win. The Yankees have increased their first-place lead in the AL East and now host their strongest competition for the division title with the Orioles coming to Bronx.

Podcast: JJ Barstool Sports New York

The Yankees are the best team in the AL East and possibly the entire AL despite missing three of their best players for most of the first two-plus months of the season.

Dellin Betances

There isn’t a team Yankees fans should be worried about in the American League. Maybe the Royals? But after them, who? The Yankees have the best 1-2 punch in the rotation (when healthy) and in the bullpen (when healthy) and an offense that has become consistent. To think this team is in first place in the AL East despite not having their best starting pitcher (Masahiro Tanaka), best all-around player (Jacoby Ellsbury) and arguably their best reliever (Andrew Miller) on the team at the same time since April 23 (a span of 46 games) is incredible.

JJ of Barstool Sports New York joined me to talk about the Yankees becoming the best team in the AL, what to do with the bullpen without Andrew Miller, who should be playing second base and shortshop and how to get Robinson Cano out of Seattle and back to the Bronx.

This Yankees season has been built on streaks. After a 3-6 start, the Yankees won 18 of their next 24 games. Then they fell apart in May, losing 10 of 11 for the first time since 1995, but they have rebounded to win 10 of 13 over the last two weeks, including six straight wins heading into a two-game series with the Nationals.

Bald Vinny of the Right Field Bleacher Creatures and Bald Vinny’s House of Tees joined me to talk about the Yankees’ streakiness this season, meeting A-Rod and how the perception of him has changed, Mark Teixeira’s impressive start to the year, Bernie Williams Day at the Stadium, what to do with Didi Gregorius and Stephen Drew and missing Robinson Cano.
